1900 Park Fare

1900 Park Fare is at the Grand Floridian Resort. It’s a character buffet, but there are several concerns for anyone who wants to eat gluten-free here.

Trattoria al Forno

At Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, there’s several different dining options for someone to enjoy. Many of them are extremely popular, as is the case with Trattoria al Forno. It offers both breakfast and dinner as a casual Italian eatery.

When I initially looked at the gluten free menu, I was a little underwhelmed if I am honest. There were only a handful of dishes that were listed as safe for gluten allergies. Then, the server came over and explained that essentially everything on the regular menu is available gluten-free, except the garlic bread, gnocchi, and lasagna!

After hearing this and slowly gathering my thoughts from having my mind blown, we quickly ordered the Crispy Pancetta Arancini as an appetizer. I was told I would get my own roasted garlic and oil for bread and the normal Disney gluten-free rolls.

The server shared that the pizza is a typical purchased gluten-free crust. But I had read about the gluten-free Parmigiana di Pollo. It’s been so long since I’ve had chicken parm that I just had to try it. It came out with a side of pasta as well. Let’s just say that this dish did not disappoint!

The chicken was absolutely amazing! The pasta was soft and cooked perfectly. I’m not a big fan of pasta overall, but this one was good. It wasn’t like some other gluten-free pasta’s that taste pasty or too crunchy. The texture was very similar to what I remember normal pasta texture being like.

After a great experience, I will certainly go back to visit again. They were limited on the dessert options in this location, but you can always visit the Cake Bake Shop just a few doors down to get some gluten-free dessert as you leave!

Maple Popcorn

One of the most popular snacks at any Disney park is the popcorn. There are several different options to enjoy popcorn, but one of our favorites is the maple popcorn that you can get in the Canada pavilion at Epcot.

Right before you walk through the entrance to the gardens and walk down the pathway toward Le Cellier is the cart that sells the maple popcorn.

There have been a lot of different stories shared about the maple popcorn. Some have shared that the popcorn is not gluten free, due to the flavoring. After some research and discussion with the cast members at this cart, we can confirm we were told it is gluten free.

Throughout the year, Disney rotates the specific popcorn buckets that you can get at this stand. The best part of this is you can bring the bucket back to the stand and get a refill of popcorn that is much cheaper. The initial bucket is $14.25, but a refill is only $2.25!

The popcorn has a sweet maple flavor, but it is not overwhelming. This popcorn does not taste like candied popcorn at all. It still has the popcorn texture, but that maple flavor is a sweet flavor to enjoy with the popcorn.

If you want a sweet treat that isn’t so heavy like many of the other options around Epcot, give the maple popcorn a try. If you love it as much as we do, you will probably find yourself getting a refill very quickly.

Chicken Guy!

Among all the various locations to eat at Disney Springs is Chicken Guy! It is a restaurant by Chef Guy Fieri, who many will know from his work on Food Network. The restaurant has been open at Disney Springs for quite some time, undergoing many different renovations throughout the years.

In the most recent renovation, the restaurant added a lot of seating outside. Between the outside and inside seating, the experience is much better at Chicken Guy than in years past.

I was thrilled when I read at the bottom of the menu that all chicken items can be ordered grilled and gluten-free, including the buns! This means that most everything on the menu was an option (aside from the typical gluten containing items like pasta.

After some discussion with the nice lady taking my order, I landed on the O.G. Chicken sandwich. In typical fashion at Disney, the gluten-free meal came out separately from a dedicated area of the kitchen. It did take a few extra minutes, but it’s always worth it to know the meal is safe.

The bun has the same consistency and texture as the Udi gluten-free buns. It was extremely soft, but a word of caution. The bun is extremely crumbly. In fact, it was very dry inside apart from the sauce that was on the sandwich. The grilled chicken was excellent. The French fries were excellent and had a very nice seasoning on them.

For a quick meal, this was a good choice at Disney Springs. I would certainly make sure that you have some sort of sauce on the sandwich to help with the bun dryness. You can also get the chicken tenders grilled and gluten-free without the bun if you prefer.

Diamond Horseshoe

At Magic Kingdom, there are many different dining options to choose from. Just across from the Hall of Presidents sits Liberty Tree Tavern and Diamond Horseshoe. Each has a unique perspective to them, but on a recent visit, we decided to eat at Diamond Horseshoe.

Inside the restaurant it has an old town saloon feel. There is a player piano on stage and for a Disney restaurant, it isn’t the largest dining area around.

The meal is an all you can eat experience. Diamond Horseshoe has a dedicated allergen menu, like most other Disney restaurants. You can see the menu below.

This is almost like a Thanksgiving feast! Turkey, pot roast, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy and more. The meal starts with a nice large salad that is gluten free, then they shared some gluten-free bread that is covered in a garlic butter.

The most important part is the main plate, however. It is completely separate from the rest of the table who may enjoy gluten items. In the photo below, you can see the gluten-free mac and cheese as well.

They offer a special apple cake desert that is gluten free, but they will offer you a couple of alternatives if you don’t want apple cake. Sorbet was offered, but they also offered the Home Free cookie packs.

A few warnings here. First, don’t go and expect to get out fast. Diamond Horseshoe almost always runs late on their reservations. This was one of the quickest times, and it was still 20 minutes past our reservation time when we were called.

The service here can also leave some to be desired. We have dined here and had amazing service, and other times it was absolutely terrible. There really is no consistency here with the service. But there is consistency with the food. It’s an excellent meal and certainly worth your time!

‘Ohana

Just across Seven Seas Lagoon from the Magic Kingdom sits the Polynesian Village Resort. The resort is a beautiful place to stay with convenient access by land, boat, and monorail. Inside of the Polynesian is one of our favorite restaurants: ‘Ohana.

‘Ohana means family which is exactly what Disney builds on with this family dining experience. Everything is served family-style, with large bowls and plates of food brought out to the table. Which heightens the fears of anyone that is attempting to avoid gluten or other food allergens! But Disney handles this extremly well at ‘Ohana.

While the rest of my family enjoyed the normal bread, I was given some of the normal gluten-free rolls that Disney serves along with my own plate of honey and butter. The salad was served and is gluten-free. Everyone at the table was able to share without any concerns. When it came time for the main course, I received my own side of food, including white rice, chicken wings, and vegetables.

For the main couse, all the meats are gluten free. All you can eat steak, chicken, and peel & eat shrimp from the grill. Each with an asian flavor to it.

To end the meal, they have dessert for everyone. While most receive the typical bread pudding or cupcakes, those who need gluten-free are not left out! ‘Ohana has a gluten-free bread pudding dessert. According to the menu, it comes with a dairy free ice cream as well.

While I am not a huge fan of bread pudding, this one was not too bad. It was certainly a great ending to an amazing meal. If you are looking for a great gluten-free meal that will not leave you hungry at the end, try out ‘Ohana at the Polynesian Village Resort!
