D-Luxe Burger

There are numerous options at Disney Springs for someone who is looking for a good meal. One of the quick-service options is D-Luxe Burger. It is open for lunch and dinner, serving gourmet burgers, fries, and milkshakes.

As you can see from the picture, there is often a long line of people waiting outside to order. There is seating available inside and outside along the side of the building. Additional tables are located on either side of the restaurant, but they are not in the covered area with lights. Also, if you go on a cold day, the outside dining along the wall of the restaurant has heat lamps!

The menu for gluten-free options is not as extensive as the main menu. There are several burger options, along with a chicken sandwich, and fries.

I had the classic cheeseburger with some french fries on our visit. The burger came sealed to prevent cross-contamination and separate from other items. The burger and the fries were delicious!

One suggestion to help beat the crowd, mobile order! You don’t have to stand in the line. At your arrival time, they will notify you to come get a pager. You can then get your drinks, condiments, and take a seat. They will bring the food straight to you when it’s ready!

The Cake Bake Shop

At Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, there has been a lot of excitement with the opening of The Cake Bake Shop. A lot of influencers and bloggers have been visiting and sharing, focusing on the decor and the various options. But many of those options don’t work for those of us who need gluten-free.

We grabbed a lunch-time reservation to visit and see what all the hype was about. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. There was a lot of work done to create a specific experience for anyone who visits.

We asked at the front about gluten-free menu options. The front hostess advised that the restaurant did not have a dedicated gluten-free menu, but that the server would be able to help us with gluten-free options. We were seated very quickly as the restaurant was not very busy. I was told to explore the menu and see what options I liked.

The menu had a lot of different options for meals and drinks. There were 6 total pages in the main menu, as you can see below. It was noted on the main menu that the sandwiches could all be made gluten-free with gluten-free bread.

When the server approached, he advised me that there were no gluten-free soup options. He shared that many things could be modified to be gluten-free, but that the soups were not an option. He shared that he had a family member that had celiac, and he typically recommends the sandwiches as the safest option. I opted for the chicken salad sandwich on the gluten-free bun. The bun was soft and delicious. There wasn’t a ton of flavor to the chicken salad, but it did not taste bad.

The big reason for the visit was to try a gluten-free dessert option, since everyone raves about the cakes. The dessert menu is large, having a few gluten-free options such as a brownie and macaroons.

I decided to go with the Oprah’s “O” List Mint Chocolate Chip Cake. At first I was a little skeptical, but on the first bite that went away. This was by far one of the best gluten-free cakes I have ever had. There were two types of icing on the cake. The inside was a dense icing that had a stronger mint flavor. The outside was light, similar to a buttercream icing, which didn’t have a strong mint flavor at all.

I cannot say that I recommend the food here. The sandwich was just normal, and overpriced in my opinion given what it was. But the cake, that was worth every penny. I cannot recommend it enough if you like chocolate mint!

Yak & Yeti

I was so excited that we were able to go to Animal Kingdom to eat at one of my favorite Disney restaurants recently! Yak & Yeti was one of the first places that I remember eating when I went to Disney on my first trip many years ago. Returning now, it holds an even more special place with my need to eat gluten-free!

This photo shows the entire restaurant, but the entrance is on the right side of the photo, where you see this cool sign as you enter.

We were seated pretty quick after our reservation time. The staff quickly provided the gluten-free menu so I could see all the available choices. One thing to note, if you are ordering appetizers off the gluten-free menu, be sure to tell them it must be gluten-free.

We were ordering the lettuce cups to share at the table, but the server was quick to tell us that there are two different versions and they are not naturally gluten-free. As I looked at the menu, I was a little disappointed. In the past, I had enjoyed the chicken tikka masala as my meal, but it was only on the regular menu with a tofu version on the allergen menu. I was thrilled as the server told me that the chicken version was also gluten-free if the naan was removed. She made the modification and I was able to enjoy a trip down memory lane with such an amazing meal.

One of the best things about dining here is that it is part of the Landry’s group. So if you are a member of the Landry’s loyalty program, you will earn for your meal and can redeem your rewards. If you are not a member, you can join and enjoy the perks at any Landry’s.

If you are at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, don’t miss out on this great meal while you are there. So many great options to choose from and the food is always delicious!

Hollywood Studios Backlot Express

Recently, my family and I decided to stop by Hollywood Studios for a quick visit. It was a Friday night and most of the sit-down restaurants were already taken for the evening. So we quickly decided to enjoy some quick service from Disney!

Our decision led us to Backlot Express. I quickly pulled out my phone and started going through the Disney app to locate the gluten-free menu items at this location. When I came to the allergen menu, my attention was drawn to the Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork burger!

This burger is an angus burger that is topped with smoked pulled pork, american cheese, cole slaw, and a house-made barbecue sauce that gives it a sweet but tangy flavor. The burger came with a side of fries that were from the dedicated fryer, so there were no concerns about cross contamination.

So I have to preface this by saying that you always have to keep in mind that the quick-service dining at Disney is theme park food. It is far from the sit down dining experiences that you can have. That said, the burger was the typical Disney burger, which is not as bad as one might think. I think Disney has done a great job delivering a quality burger for a theme park. The BBQ on top was not my favorite, as I don’t prefer the sweet taste, but it paired well with the cole slaw and the entire sandwich. Here’s a picture of the side of the burger, giving you a better look at the inside.

Again, this is not going to amaze you compared to some of the other Disney flavors that exist, but it’s an excellent choice when you need something quick at Hollywood Studios!

Summer House on the Lake – Cookie Bar

At Disney Springs, there’s a great place called Summer House on the Lake. Summer House is extremely popular and has a beach/outdoor vibe to the entire restaurant. Water is even served from coolers that sit inside the restaurant. While a lot of people want to talk about the food, I want to focus on the cookies!

Summer House is known for their cookie bar. Many people go there for the wide variety of cookies (see below) and the brown butter krispy treats are popular. But those are not gluten-free, which is disappointing. Summer House does not forget about those who do not want gluten, however.

Every day, they have some type of gluten-free dessert. On the day I went, it was their gluten and vegan chocolate chip cookie. I have to be honest, the cookies can become hard if they aren’t as fresh. On this visit, I went earlier in the day and the cookies were super fresh and delicious.

In past visits, long before I started the blog, I have visited and they have had other gluten-free options. Once they had a brownie, but that wasn’t my favorite thing I have ever had here. The brownie was very soft and had an almost overwhelming taste of fudge. It was topped with powdered sugar. While it may have not been my favorite thing, it was far from the worst gluten-free dessert I’ve had.

Summer House is a great place to go, even if just for a cookie! There’s a lot of great dining options here, which I will share more about in the future.

Sprinkles Cupcakes

Sprinkles has been at Disney Springs for quite some time. It is not exclusive to Disney Springs, however. They have locations in 7 states and Washington, DC as of this writing. I was introduced to Sprinkles long before I started having to eat gluten-free, visiting their location in New York. Now that I am gluten-free, I am so glad they are around!

Outside the store, and to the right of the main door is a cupcake ATM, where you can walk up and order without going inside the store. Inside, there isn’t much to see. They have self-service kiosks and a nice large menu board. After you order, they call your name to pick up your order at the end. There is a nice seating area outside if you want to eat your goodies while you are there.

On this visit, there were two gluten-free options. In the past, they have had large gluten-free cookies. This time, the cookies were smaller cookie bites. I did not try those on this trip. I had the red velvet cupcake. The menu shares other items, such as vegan or sugar-free. They do not list any other allergens on their main menu.

The cupcake was extremely moist and fresh tasting. It wasn’t too dense, tasting more like a regular cake than some gluten-free cakes that I have had. The icing was delicious. It was sweet, but not overly sweet. It was a great balance.

Sprinkles is another great option for gluten-free sweets at Disney Springs that will certainly hit the spot!

Erin McKenna’s Bakery

Located in Disney Springs, Erin McKenna’s Bakery is a bakery dedicated to items that are gluten-free. In fact, every item in the bakery is not only gluten-free, but they are vegan, kosher, and dairy, eggs, nuts, and soy.

The bakery has several locations across the country, but this has been in Disney Springs for quite some time. The menu has a lot of great items to choose from, with seasonal items that rotate in from time to time.

Items here may be just a bit more expensive than some other bakeries in town that have gluten-free items, but the guarantee that everything is gluten-free without any risk of cross contamination is definitely worth it. I’ve tried most everything on the menu without disappointment. Here’s a couple of the items from late December 2024.

The crumb cakes, cinnamon rolls, and donuts are delicous as well. The donuts are cake donuts, so the texture is similar to most of the other items in the bakery with a nice glaze on top. If you put the cinnamon roll in a microwave for 10-15 seconds, they soften and are absolutely amazing!

If you are in the are of Disney Springs and want something sweet to eat, Erin McKenna’s Bakery is worth your time!
