Sus Hi Eatstation

Someone told me recently about Sus Hi Eatstation. I was a little nervous, because anywhere that has sushi is often off limits for a gluten-free diet. But this person said they knew that there were gluten-free options available at Sus Hi.

There are plenty of locations throughout Central FL. On this trip, I went to the one in Lake Nona as I was in the area. The parking wasn’t the most convenient to the location, but there was plenty of parking and very few people were inside on a Saturday at lunch. There were several people making orders to go, however.

If you simply look at the online order menu on their website, you do not see a lot of gluten-free options on your phone. But once you see the full menu on the website, you can see there are plenty of gluten-free options.

Inside the restaurant, you order at a kiosk. There are not many items marked as gluten-free on the kiosk either. Thankfully, they have a paper menu sitting on a table that does show the items that are gluten-free. I was able to review the paper menu, and staff confirmed that all the items marked as gluten-free were truly gluten free.

I watched as the staff prepared the order as well. Each item was in separate areas, and they prepared one before starting another. I always worry about cross contamination in places like this, but they do seem to be careful with it here. Best of all, there were gluten-free soy sauce packets and plenty of gluten free sauce options to choose from!

I ordered a custom sushi bowl. While there are only a few safe protein options, the chicken was very good. I had it on white rice and had the white sauce and mango habanero sauce as the two sauces I chose.

The bowl was delicious. It did remind me of some great sushi I was able to enjoy back in the day. The sauces were delicious also. Plenty of heat in the mango habanero, but it was a sweet and spicy taste. The soy sauce was great, if you are able to enjoy the gluten-free soy sauce. The white sauce was good also, but I found it a little sweet for my taste.

I will absolutely go back to Sus Hi very soon. This was an excellent meal that did not break the bank. Great options and was very filling. If you are able, give it a try!
