Red Robin is a national burger chain that has several locations across central Florida. Not long ago, we were near International Drive and looking for a place for lunch. After a search for options in the area, Red Robin came up. It’s been years since I have been to a Red Robin and I saw they have gluten-free options, so we decided to go!
The menu doesn’t share any information about gluten-free, other than a hidden QR code on the back. That QR code says if you have allergies, scan it. Once I did, an excellent allergy menu popped up. This menu allows you to select your allergies (even if more than gluten) and shares with you what needs to be modified to make your meal acceptable for your allergies.
There weren’t a lot of choices for gluten-free appetizers, but the chips and queso were gluten-free according to the website. The server said that they system they run allergy requests through also showed it as gluten-free. The queso was really thick, but they certainly didn’t bring a lot of chips. Thankfully, they offered free refills of chips.
I decided to go with the smoke and pepper burger on the gluten-free bun. The website shared that the bun was the only modification needed. The server also shared that they do have allergy friendly sides, including their house made chips and fries.
The fries come without any of the seasoning, which was a little disappointing. I noticed on the bottle of the seasoning that it is gluten-free. Without any other allergies, I felt confident having some. I sprinkled it over the fries and it helped the flavor tremendously.
Obviously this is not the fanciest or nicest gluten-free meal around Orlando, but it was a good meal overall. The sides all come with free refills, so unlimited allergy friendly fries are an option. All said, I still am concerned with cross contamination here, so beware if you are celiac. Otherwise, it’s a typical burger chain that offers some decent options for something different.
