Located beside one of my other favorite places to eat (Thai Thani) is Oishi. The sign bills this as the ultimate Japanese cuisine, where they offer sushi and hibachi. After seeing it when walking in Thai Thani, I had to ask if they could offer gluten-free options. I was surprised to hear they could.
Nothing gluten-free is marked on the menu, but what appeared to be the lead hostess or the owner knew the menu well. She was able to share immediately everything that they could do to help me eat gluten-free.
I haven’t had sushi in a long time, so I decided to get a sushi roll. It was normally a shrimp tempura roll, but they subbed grilled shrimp into the roll. They brought a nice bowl of gluten-free soy sauce to use as well!

I wanted to try so many things as we talked through the menu, but settled on chicken. The server talked with the chef, who used the gluten-free soy sauce on my meal. The vegetables were delicious, chicken was cooked perfectly, and the rice was tasty.

There is certainly a risk of cross contamination here, but I really did enjoy the food and the extra steps they took to have safe food for me to eat. It’s well worth the trip if you want some excellent Japanese food that is gluten-free!.
