There are many different locations for Pollo Tropical throughout Central FL. I don’t normally stop and eat fast food a lot, but I wanted to see if Pollo Tropical had any gluten-free options to share with everyone. So we decided to stop in one day to check it out.
As we walked in, I saw numerous people inside eating a variety of things. As I looked at the menu, absolutely nothing is marked as gluten-free. So I decided to ask the staff if they knew what items might be gluten-free. The staff member told me that nothing was gluten-free and I shouldn’t eat there. That was extremely disappointing.
But I decided that I would go over to their website and look at the menu. The website has an excellent nutritional area that tells all the options. Once you see the website, there are NUMEROUS gluten-free options to enjoy here. It was actually quite surprising.
I decided to order the white meat chicken with black beans and white rice. All of these items are gluten free. There are also several sauce options to enjoy. I tried the spicy poyo-poyo sauce and I really enjoyed it!

The chicken was delicious, extremely juicy. The black beans were nothing special. There wasn’t a ton of flavor to them, but they weren’t the worst I’ve ever had. The white rice was typical white rice as well. The sauce certainly helped make it better.
If you are going to eat at Pollo Tropical, you better beware that there is cross contamination risks. The staff does not know anything about gluten-free options and you better be prepared ahead of time with options to eat. The food will not be terrible, but you will certainly want to be careful.
