Kavas Tacos

I have shared about other restaurants near Pointe Orlando, but recently I had the opportunity to visit Kavas Tacos for the first time. The day that I went to Kavas, they offered brunch, which I plan to check out for gluten-free options. But I was in the mood for tacos!

Their menu shared a lot of gluten-free options. You have to read the menu carefully, however. Many things might say they are not gluten-free, but it simply takes a change from flour to corn tortillas. This expands the options tremendously.

I saw that the queso dip was gluten-free, so I had to give it a try. They did advise that the chips were gluten-free, but could have some cross contamination. Please beware if you are celiac.

The queso dip and salsa were both delicious. The queso came out extremely hot, and the salsa had a little bit of a bite to it. It was a great pairing.

I was really in the mood to try the barbacoa tacos, which just required to sub corn tortillas. The barbacoa was absolutely delicious, with exceptional flavor. The corn tortillas were soft and held up well with the tacos.

The rice was just typical Mexican rice, there was really nothing special about it. The same with the refried beans. Absolutely nothing special and I didn’t really eat very much of either.

There are a lot of options at Kava’s for gluten-free. While you might find a reason to be careful for cross contamination, there are several options if that isn’t extremely critical. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. It’s worth a try if you are in the area!
