One of the most challenging reservations to find at Disney Springs can often be Homecomin’. It’s by Chef Art Smith and is extremely popular among visitors and locals for the excellent food and drinks that if offers. Since I heard several people talking about it recently, I decided to take a trip to see what gluten-free options they might have!
After arriving, I learned that they don’t have a dedicated gluten-free menu and there is a risk of cross contamination here in the kitchen. I say that for anyone who might have celiac. While they did share they change gloves and attempt to take precautions, they were not like many other Disney locations that can accommodate cross contamination risks.
I was told they could modify many things in order to make them gluten-free. They do not have an option for the fried chicken to be gluten-free. They will make it grilled, however. The appetizer options were very limited also. The only one marked as safe for gluten-free was the deviled eggs.
The menu offers a wide selection of sandwiches and dishes, and the server asked me if I like burgers. Of course I do! He said that he felt that the burger at Homecomin’ was often overlooked and that some of the gluten-free guests he has served said it’s one of the best. They can make the chips gluten-free (with cross contamination risk), so I opted for those as a side. He shared the fryer was separate, but the oil runs through the same system on both sides, in case you are wondering.
This burger was just as amazing as he described! It came on the Udi’s gluten-free bun, which is one of my favorites if it is warmed correctly. The burger had plenty of toppings on it. The sauce on it was perfect, and it was cooked to be moist. It was one of the best gluten-free burgers I have ever eaten.
The chips were excellent as well. The sauce that is drizzled on top gave the chips a unique flavor. But the absolute star of this meal was the burger. I am so glad he recommended it!
While they don’t have as many options as other places and a risk of cross contamination, Homecomin’ is a great place to find a meal. Everyone else at the table loved their meal. I cannot wait to go back and enjoy this burger again sometime soon!
