There are tons of choices for places to eat at Disney Springs. If you have to eat gluten-free, you quickly learn that Disney is always one of the places that you can trust. They are so accommodating, and most of the restaurants at Disney Springs are accommodating as well. So many times, they follow Disney’s lead and will have at least a few gluten-free options.
While I often walk by Jose Andres at Disney Springs and see a lot of people entering, I never see many people going in and out of PePe, which is just around from the main entrance. After reading some comments online, where other writers shared it was a great place to eat, I decided to stop by.
We walked in around 5:30 on a Saturday evening. No one was inside or outside eating. It was completely empty. After a few moments of looking at the menu, we were greeted by the cashier to take our order. As with most quick-service meals at Disney, I immediately asked about gluten-free options. Especially after review of their online menu which said to speak with someone about any allergies.
I was immediately told they do not have a gluten-free menu. I asked if they could describe anything that was gluten-free. The response shocked me. They offer no gluten-free options. It wasn’t just that they had no options, but they were far from friendly as I tried to ask questions. It was as if me asking was a bother to them and they didn’t want to deal with me.
So after trying to ask a few more questions, my family and I left. Without reservations, we were struggling to find somewhere. Thankfully, D-Luxe Burger is always accommodating and we had a quick meal that evening.
At the end of the day, don’t worry walking into PePe. Without any options and a staff that is far from friendly, it surprises me that they are even in business.
