At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I have always been disappointed with the dining scene. I think most of the restaurants here are simply okay at best. We were at the parks not long ago and we needed to find something to eat between rides. So we jumped on the app and found a reservation at Hollywood & Vine and decided to give it a try for dinner again.
This is a character buffet. So you can enjoy all you can eat from the buffet, the gluten-free items of course. They give you a handout to look through all the gluten-free options also. By looking at the paper, most of the items on the buffet are gluten-free.
I was able to easily find the items on the buffet that were safe to eat. As I walked through the line, I noticed that it wasn’t as clean as some buffets. People were mixing food and utensils rather openly. Staff wasn’t taking the time to keep the line clean either. In fact, the buffet line sat without plates on one side of it for quite a long time, forcing everyone to use one side.
I was able to try most of the things on the buffet, but I was certainly underwhelmed. The pot roast was probably the best thing I had on the buffet. Most of the vegetables were lukewarm at best. There wasn’t a lot of flavor to any of them. I had high hopes for the brussel sprouts, but they were roasted without any seasoning.
One thing that caught my eye on the dessert menu was that it said there was a gluten-free brownie option on request. While ice-cream is nice, how can you not try the brownie?!
Like the rest of the food, it was underwhelming also. They opened one of the prepackaged brownies and simply placed it on a plate. It wasn’t warm and to make it “fancy” they included a couple of blueberries, which didn’t really do much in my opinion. It was a nice departure from no dessert at other Disney buffets.
Overall, I will not be rushing back to Hollywood & Vine anytime soon. The characters were great, but the food was disappointing for the price. You’re better off to go to Roundup Rodeo, unless you just want to see the characters.
